Double Cleanse

Double Cleanse

A double cleanse? What on earth is that and why do I need to know what that is?

Boy do I love this question!

Now, with that being said, let’s dive in! What the heck is a double cleanse? A double cleanse is a skincare technique that involves washing your face twice to remove dirt, oil, makeup, and other impurities. But why is this so important? With less residue on the skin's surface, pores are less likely to become clogged, and skincare products can actually penetrate better, allowing you to truly reap their benefits.

The double cleansing technique typically involves using an oil-based cleanser first, followed by a water-based cleanser. The oil-based cleanser breaks down makeup, sunscreen, and excess oil, while the water-based cleanser removes remaining dirt, sweat, and oil.

There are several benefit to doing a double cleanse: clean pores, smoother and brighter skin, prevents acne, prevents premature aging, prepares the skin for products and targets specific skin concerns.

The double cleanse is especially beneficial for those that wear heavy makeup everyday, live in a polluted climate and/or wear a lot of sunscreen, as these can leave deposits on the skin that are hard to get off.

When it comes to a double cleanse, there are recommendations for each skin type. Normal skin types don’t have to worry about a particular concern, though it’s still best to opt for moisturizing or creamy formulas.

If you have dry or sensitive skin, you should look for a gentle, no irritating formula. Neutral pH levels can ensure that the skin does not get dried out even more and Ingredients like jojoba oil and shea butter could help.

Oily and acne-prone skin should stick to lightweight cleansers designed to regulate oil production. You should pay attention to products that contain anti-inflammatory ingredients like Vitamin E.

Lastly, if you have combination skin, you should look for cleansers that will avoid leaving your skin dry and/or feeling oily. Choose a rich, oil-based cleansers that contains moisturizing ceramides followed by a revitalizing foaming cleanser.

After your double cleanse, it is recommended to seal in that moisture. Depending on the time of day, you can use things such as serums, moisturizers, creams and oils.

At the end of the day, remember to love your skin! Double cleansing can ensure that your skin is throughly cleansed and getting the most out of your routine by allowing the rest of your products to be effectively applied and absorbed, without any blockages.

Say goodbye to the leftover gunk, clogged pores and acne blemishes and say hello to healthier looking skin!
